TABOR Activist to testify

The Durango Herald: Colorado anti-tax activist Douglas Bruce agreed Thursday to testify before a grand jury in exchange for immunity. Bruce had said Wednesday that he didn't want to testify, leading prosecutors to ask that he be held in contempt of court. The nature of the investigation has not been made public because grand jury proceedings are secret. El Paso County District Attorney Dan May has said Bruce is a witness, not the target of the investigation. May said it's not related to Bruce's political activities. Bruce indicated Thursday that he would answer questions only about the person being investigated by the grand jury. He had said he didn't want to swear an oath of secrecy because it would infringe his First Amendment rights. Bruce, a former prosecutor, also said he would invoke his constitutional right not to incriminate himself.
